Quilters, gather 'round the pointillism palette! I bring exciting news. We've successfully dotted our i's in Week 1 with fabric selection, and now we're stepping into Week 2 of the Dots on Point Quilt Sew Along.

Buddies, this requires patience and precision, but I have faith in each of you because you possess these skills. Will we encounter fresh challenges? Most definitely. Will we need to troubleshoot on the spot? Absolutely. But will we succeed? Without a doubt. Together, we will stitch our way and master each step with our Dots on Point masterpieces! Are you in?

I'm all fired up, but if you're discovering this Sew Along for the first time, here are a few things you should know:

NO Sign-up: You don't need to sign up for Zen Chic Sew Alongs. You simply sew along with us! Sewing Questions: You have questions, we have answers! The best place to ask your technical sewing questions is in our Zen Chic Dots On Point Facebook group. The primary purpose of Sew Alongs is to answer questions that specifically arise when making the Dots on Point pattern, so don't worry about asking a "silly" question. There's no such thing!

Prizes: Besides ending up with a stunning finished quilt top, you can also win weekly prizes by using #DotsOnPointQAL in the captions of your Instagram posts. More details about this are at the end of this post.

Fabric Cutting Essentials for Week 2

To prepare your fabric for the Dots On Point Quilt, you don't need necessarily any specific rulers or supplies. However, there are so much handy tools out there that can make the process of sewing this quilt more pleasurable. Here is a list of my essential supplies, a circle cutter (I will use mine in week 3) is really great to have.

Your Assignment for Week 2: Cut Your Fabrics

Here's your mission for the week:

Alright, quilters, it's time to roll up your sleeves and get cutting! The mission involves transforming our fabulous fabric into neat little squares, ready for some applique action. Now, this isn't your average cut-and-paste job – we're creating small pieces of art here! So, grab your sharpest rotary blade and let's dive in.

Our first task is to tackle the solid background fabrics. Picture this: each small square will soon play host to a dazzling dot, appliqued with precision and love. You can think of them as little stages, ready for their star – the Dot!

Need a guiding hand? Don't fret, our trusty YouTube tutorial has got your back. Follow along as we slice, dice, and everything nice, transforming our fabrics into quilt-ready pieces.

Once we've conquered the background, it's time to prepare for the main event – the Dots! This is where the magic happens, folks. Our YouTube tutorial will guide you through this process too, ensuring you are perfectly set up.

For the nitty-gritty details like precise measurements, refer to our pattern. It's got all the information you nee. So, are you ready to take on this cutting adventure? Let's get those rotary cutters slicing!

And the winner of our last week’s prize is….
